We are wrapping everything up and pitting the icing on the cake for Daniela`s Baptism, which is sunday, the 13 of September. We are finishing the missionary lessons, and also had an awesome family home evening with the Guerrero family monday, followed by the big baptismal interview. We didn`t know how it would all go down, because Daniela is really shy, it is hard for her to express herself, but we knew she would pass. She has had so much progress over the weeks and months, her desire is so strong to be baptized and she has done so much to be prepared: reading the Book of Mormon, Praying, and attending church every Sunday, with only a few exceptions. She re-teaches the lessons to her friend Ciomara, and says that it helps her learn better. The ward, especially the young women leaders, have really pitched in to bring her to church and support her, because her family is not ready to listen to the gospel and have the same change in thier lives. That is the hardest part, having to do it all alone, noting also that she is only 12 years old, but at least she has the support of the various members and missionaries. It is incredible her willingness to push forward, and endure to the end. She gets a little nervous and quiet when she has to participate and doesn`t like to read aloud, and even a little distracted at times, but knows that this church is true, and says she can`t describe how she feels, just different and cool about it all. One more investigator enters into the waters of baptiesm, a simple act to simbolize a life-long devotion. Incredible. She said she only wants to invite a few members, and her family, to make her baptism even more special for her.
Hector is showing real solid progresion, while he little by little gets to know the Book of Mormon. He said that he wants to go at his own pace, and his famly doesn`t want to rush or force him to be baptized, because they are all members, but we leave him with homework in the Book of Mormon and he reads it , and listens to it on his cell phone and reads it again. He said that he doesn`t like reading so muchbut he makes an effort and always has a remarkable understanding of what he reads. It also helps that his wife can answer the questions that he has. Everything in it`s appropriate time, on the lords time table.
We gave a priesthood blessing to sister Morales`s son who has lung cancer and at time has trouble breathing. It all makes sister Morales really nervous to see what will happen, if he will be ok. He is inactive, Sister Morales and her daughter are the only ones in her family that are active, and her husband is not a member. Afterwards she invited us to share a message from the scriptures for her son. We hope everything gets better for them, Despite it all Sister Morales is so faithfull, always going to church and the temple and never loosing hope for her family.
It has been a little rainy these last few days, beautiful. Tomorrow we have to enter in early, at 6, and we are now allowed to leave friday, because it is the 11 of September, a dangerous, violence day here. We are going to make tacos at home.
I love you all, thanks for writing me. I hope I can straiten out everything for school, so I can start right away. I hope you have an amazing week. I loved amy`s pic after she got her wisdom teeth pulled, it brings back funny memories. I loved reading the story, how it went down. Talk later, Elder Chandler
