I am doing great!! Just praying a lot for our little family of investigators, that have their baptism soon, and hoping everything goes well. They have had a few doubts but we are working dillegently to prepare them and help them recieve a strong testimony and conversion to become members for life. They have gone through various trials too, money problems and family relation problems but they still are really interested and trying to change. It isn´t easy to be baptized, and accept change, but it just means a lot more when stong in the church, because you started everything in the right way. Today we watched Ephriams Rescue, which was good but not as good as 17 miracles. We wanted to watch Meet The Mormons, but it is still unavaliable. II got my hair cut today, a new look now. We are going over today to teach tithing and fast offerings, I hope it goes well, it should. I love you all, I hope you all have a nice day. Elder Chandler.
Our investigators are progressing, as this week we started teaching the commandments. They still have doubts, and think we focus too much on Joseph Smith and prophets and we don´t mention Jesus Christ and read from the Bible. They like the Book of Mormon, but believe the Bible is the most important, and think we don´t know much about the Bible. This is a common doubt I´ve seen, which is why the prophets and apostles are always telling us to testify more of Jesus Christ. We do not worship Joseph Smith, nor Thomas S Monson, but Jesus Christ, our Savior. Yesterday we taught the Law of Chastity, which was a big lesson because they are not married, and one is living in sin. After a long lesson, one made the commitment to obey the Law of Chastity, and the other sister is unsure. Her situation is a little more complicated, and she is having relationship problems with her boyfriend and waiting for him to change. There is still a little more work to do, but I am praying a lot for them. It is a battle, and I will not give up on this family. Now they have been to church 3 times!!! and the two youth are attending mutual Wednesday. My birthday is comming, 20 years old!!!!!! I feel so old. and then comes Christmas and I will be able to skype, I can´t wait. I am so happy to hear from you all, Unfortunately I wont be there to meet Daniela, Josh´s Girlfriend. I am so happy to hear from all of you. I love you so much, especially you mom. AND DAD. and josh and jeremy and amy and kate. I love you all. Have a nice week: elder chandler
It is nice to hear you guys have had some cool weather, it is unbearably HOT here. We are working hard, but it seams that summer has arrived. Today for Pday I went to Aguas de Ramon for my second time, which was a beautiful experience, but a long one which left us scrambling to get everything done today that we need to do. But it is nice to be in the mountains, on a hike following a river. I made sure to wear a lot of sunscreen and bring water, as to not cook myself. This week has been a good one, Nataly and Barbra went to church this week for the second time, but Nataly had a few doubts about baptism, and the correct form to baptize, refering to the Bible. Good thing we were able to resolve some of her doubts, but she still isn´t completely sure she needs to get baptized yet, because she knows baptism is a very important decision. Yesterday we went with the Garridos, which wasn´t the best idea. They are recent converts from like 8 months ago and are very excited about helping out, and sharing the gospel but they might have been a little to pushy and forward, asking about and refering to things that they shouldn´t have, but we did get out of their alive, and they still have a lot of desires to learn more and want to continue going to church every sunday and advance in the book of mormon. I hope everything goes all right with them, because they are such a cool family and have so much faith and the desire to know. It is a beautiful thing. Elder Nelson taught us so much stuff saturday, it was a really good meeting. I love you all and thank you for all your support. Thanks for keeping me updated in everything that is happening in you lives, Love, Elder Chandler
Golden investigators from the Estancilla in church on Sunday! We had a great week last week, which was a good way to end the change. We invited the family we are teaching in the Estancilla to go to church, and they were really excited to go, but we had to ask a member to help us bring them to church because they don´t have a car and they live barely outside the limits of public transportation. We crammed ourselves into brother Soto´s car, and had people sitting on others laps and one kid in the trunk. The large family includes two sisters, who live next to each other and their kids, two youth and 5 kids, but only the two sisters went with the the two youth and one kid. But with two missionaries and brother Soto, we filled the car. The others stayed home with their grandma. They thought the chapel to be really big, and it surprised them how many members went. They ended up having a lot of questions, but liked the experience a lot. Today we are going with the dominguez family to pick them up and bring them to mutual. It is so great to see them progressing so much.
Recently Halloween has become big in Chile, before they celebrated just the day of the dead. On Halloween a lot of children went trick or treating just like in the States, but not everyone celebrates Halloween. We had a good Halloween and had a fun time. Today was the first day of the new change, and Elder Acevedo went, and we have a new zone leader from Mexico. I am excited to listen to Elder Nelson this Saturday. P.S. Do you guys reive the mensajero, a newsletter of the mission? |
