This last week has been really productive, and we were able to have a lot of lessons. It´s also been really great teaching so many investigators, and to see them progress and gain the desire to be baptized. We are now reading the book of mormon with them, and commiting them to read it to gain a testimony. We are going to commit them to go to church on sunday. It´s really two families that are progressing, the family of two sisters that live next door. This is the last week of the cambio, which means I might be leaving Quimey. I´d be happy to stay and work more with the families we have, or go to another ward to work. Time is flying bye so fast, I almost have a year! Yesterday we got to know a new family that moved into the ward this week. He was a in the bishopbric of his old ward, so him and his young family should be a strength to the ward. It will be good to have more little kids making noise in church sunday. We sure have a lot of young families. I just finished the mission 7 years ago. I´m a little behind in reading the book of mormon, today we have to get to alma 21. I love hearing from you, and I hope you have a good week, Elder Chandler
You are just leaving a HOT summer, and we are just heading into summer. I think I am ready, because I didn´t like the cold nights of winter very much. But it is time to take out the sunscreen and prepare to sweat a lot more. At least we have bikes, and can cool off a little bit with the cool breeze. Today for Pday we played a lot of games in the chappel, like soccer, thompson ball, and zombies. Then we ate a delecious peruvian lunch that Elder Nano and Elder Fernandez Davila prepared for us. We have been working a lot with some new investigators we have, trying to teach them the first lessons and pray to know the truth. We are also starting them out on the Book of Mormon. We have like 3 families we have been teaching reacently, but we have to travel like 40 minutes on bike to get to them, but they are really cool and the best part is they have never seen missionaries before. They are a lot more receptive and not as cold as the people closer to where we live. This is because they live in a little isolated farmers community outside of san bernardo, or just a little out of santiago. We had a great zone conference monday, about trying new things and not giving up to achive success. We have to keep working 150% if we want success, and become the perfect missionary. There is never really a break in missionary work, and I am greatful for that. Last night we went to a lesson with members, and found out that the daughter tried commiting suicide a few days ago, that was really sad for her dad, who reacently lost his wife a couple of months ago. We tried to give the comfort we could, even though it was a hard lesson. Thank you for everything you all do, and pray for the people here in Quimey. I love you all, and love all the updates you sent me. Elder Chandler
Another crazy week. Today for P-day we went to the rio clarillo. It´s a national park about 45 minutes away from where I´m at with a beautiful river running through a forest. It was a really good experience. I love nature. It was like a little break from the constant work in the bustling city of santiago. I love the missionary work, but once a week it is good to get out, have a break and enjoy things a little. After returning we went right to a service project moving a lot of brick, and then had to do some small chores before comming here to do internet now. Let me just say we have been rushing around a lot these last couple hours. I think I ate lunch in like 2 minutes. I don´t like rushing around very much. Monday we had zone conference, which was 3 zones together, about 60 missionaries, and it lasted like 5 hours. We learned that two apostles are comming, two from the twelve. Elder Nelson and Christenson on Nov. 8th. It is going to be really cool. They are here to see how things are going with the plan piloto, because we have been having a lot of success with it. Also all of the ward mission leaders and bishops of two missions are going to have a special meating with them, which is cool. We were able to find a young couple that we havent been able to find in forever and teach them. It was so great, and I hope they can start progressing to return to the church. She is a recent convert of my old companion, elder figueroa and his old companion which happend right before I got here to Quimey. I hope a lot we can help them out and bring about this important change or reactivation. Right now I can´t think about much more to right and I don´t have very much time left either. I love hearing from you all, so if you have a question, some news, or something I can do for you, just write me. I love you all, elder Justin Chandler
How was General Conference. It was pretty cool, how was it listening to them speak in their native language. That was interesting. I´m still not sure which talk was my favorite. I´m going to have to go over and listen to it again, and then study it more when it comes out in the Liahona. One member in the ward is moving to Canada, they told us after the Saturday Morning session of conference, and we can´t tell anyone else but we are helping them paint the house so they can sell it before they go. It will be such a huge change for them, different school system, a completely different culture, and they don´t speak English. In other words it will be kind of like a missionary, going to a new county and not being able to understand anything. But then again it will be pretty cool too. We have been recently teaching lessons to a new group of investigators we have in part of our sector. They are pretty open to listen to us, but it is a little harder to believe. But we are working with them, and inviting them to pray about the truth of these things. It´s a little slow, but good. Other than that we are about the same. We were going to go to a river today for p-day, but couldn´t get a bus reserved to take us there so we will go next pday. I hope everything is going good for you all. This will have to be a little short this time. Until next week, Elder Chandler.
When was the last time you went to the temple. I went today, and I picked up on a lot of new things. I could talk for a little about what I learned, but I think it would help you out more to go to the temple, pay a lot of attention, and think about the why bihind everything. There is still a lot that I don`t understand, but I have a lot of ideas about some things. I want you to think about the simbolisms, and try to apply what you learn. Pay close attention to what we promise to do, and how you can change to give your life to the Lord. If you are not going, repent and get there this month, and I promise you that your burdens will be lighter. There are no excuses to not go to the temple. God has given us the time. And prepare to get your mind blown. This week I have been working hard with my new comp, and despite a few setbacks in the work we keep trying as hard as we can. Elder Nichols only has 3 months left, so I am going to make sure he makes the best of it. I expect to go in the conference with the same mindset that I went to the temple. I am really excited to go and learn. The conferences are always so great. This letter is going to end pretty short, but I love you all and I am having the best time of my life here. I hope you all are ok too, Elder Chandler
